Senior Django Developer | AI Focus

Foxley Talent are working with a US legaltech that has doubled down on working with AI over the past two years. The team is small and founder led, and this hire is one of the first as they scale their team back up.

They need a Senior Django Developer who has shipped serious systems before, is obsessed with what AI can do for engineering, and can slot in without needing much support.

What you will be doing

• Building and owning features across the Django and DRF backend, with real freedom to shape the direction.
• Designing APIs and data models that stay fast as the platform scales.
• Working on ingestion and processing pipelines, and the search infrastructure that has to hold up under load.
• Shaping how the team applies LLMs to the work in ways users actually trust.
• Being one of the senior voices in the room on architecture, code quality and where the product goes next.

The stack

• Python with Django and DRF on the backend.
• PostgreSQL, with Redis for background work.
• OpenSearch for search at scale.
• AWS with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Docker in the day to day.
• AI coding tools baked into how the team works.

What they are looking for

• Several years running production Python backends. Django, DRF and PostgreSQL at real scale.
• Deep AWS knowledge and comfort writing Terraform. Essential, not a nice to have.
• Obsessed with what AI can do in engineering, and clear about where it falls short.
• Clear writer and honest communicator. This is a remote team that lives in the written word.
• Bonus if you have shipped LLM features in production or have search relevance work behind you.

• $130,000 to $180,000 depending on experience.
