Career advice from a recruiter working in the Python & Django Community since 2008
We've told Python and Django developers not to pay for generic resume advice for years and still mean it. Everything on the Foxley Talent blog and social channels is free and it always will be!
But some people want more than a blog post or YouTube video. They want someone in their corner who reviews these resumes every day to take a look at theirs, tell them the truth and help them get it right. That is what this is.
What makes this Career Review Service different?
Foxley Talent gets paid by the employers, not by you. So when we sit down to review your situation here and read your resume there is no reason to flatter you into applying for a role. There is no agenda about where you end up. You will get the best advice for your situation.
Most services out there are trying to sell you a rewrite. We will not rewrite your resume for you. It probably doesn't need it!
We will tell you what a recruiter actually sees when your resume lands in their inbox. What is already working for you, what will naturally get skipped and importantly what you can do about it...

Why listen to Jon?
I have been recruiting developers in the Python and Django world since 2008. A big share of the people I place go into US companies, so I know what salaries US employers really pay and what makes them want to speak to you.
Doing this every day, I have real time knowledge of the open roles, the salaries on offer, the companies doing the hiring and what makes one developer stand out over another. I sit between developers and the companies hiring them, seeing the offers, the counter offers and what actually moves the number. That is knowledge you can put to work.
Away from the laptop I am constantly out meeting people at the biggest Python and Django conferences in the world. Learning, evolving and improving the service to meet the needs of the community.

What this is not
The whole point of this career service is total honesty so it's important to say this is not Foxley Talent finding you a job with one of our clients.
This is not us putting you forward for roles, we are not doing your search for you and we cannot promise you interviews or an offer. Nobody can guarantee you that.
What we can do is make sure that when you go after your next move, you know what you are worth, you know how to get in front of the right people and you have someone in your corner who will tell you the truth.
The rest is over to you. That is how it should be.
(There is one caveat to the caveat above, during our conversations we may also take on roles that meet your requirements and you meet the clients needs too. If that happens we will put you forward if it is the right thing to do. If it's not, we will explain why)

FAQ
Your blog is free. Why would I pay for this? The blog is for advice in general. This is tailored to your situation, your career and your next move. Keep using the free stuff if it works for you. We also have a YouTube Channel
What can you actually help me with? Where to take your career, what you are really worth and how to negotiate it, how to target and reach the right companies, how to handle interviews, and we'll work on getting your resume and LinkedIn right.
Why would a recruiter charge candidates? Fair question. Normally we are paid by the company doing the hiring. But plenty of good people come to us who we have no role for. This is a way we can still help them and it means the advice comes with no agenda about where you land.
You are based in the UK. Do you really know the US market? Yes. A big share of the people we place go into US companies and we work these roles every day. We know what US employers pay, what they look for and what gets someone hired.
Will this get me a job or guarantee interviews? No, and you should be wary of anyone who tells you they can. This is advice and a plan to make you as strong as possible when you go after your next move. The search itself is still yours.
