Our client is a specialist insurance broker with a small, high performing team based in central London. They’ve built a strong reputation by doing things properly and working closely together.
They see a clear opportunity to use technology, particularly AI and automation to work smarter and move faster than larger competitors. To do that, they’re hiring a Technology & Innovation Lead who will spend time in the business, understand how people actually work and drive real change.
This is a hands on role reporting directly to the Managing Director. You’ll be based in the London office most days, observing how work gets done, spotting inefficiencies and building better ways of working.
The expectation is that solutions will primarily be built using a Python and Django stack supported by modern AI and automation tools.
!*NOTE*! There is an opportunity for this role to be taken on a contractor basis. Outside IR35 if your day rate expectations are reasonable. To be considered you will need to work in Central London and you have the availability to take on a long term project.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Designing and building internal tools and workflows using Python and Django
- Creating automations that remove repetitive work and reduce manual effort
- Working closely with colleagues to understand pain points and bottlenecks
- Introducing AI and LLM tools in a secure, practical way
- Actively driving adoption by encouraging and supporting the team to use what you build
- Iterating quickly based on real world usage and feedback
This is not a background role. Success depends on visibility, communication and follow through as much as technical ability.
This role will suit you if…
- You’re comfortable building production ready tools with Python and Django
- You enjoy being embedded in a business and working closely with non technical teams
- You’re confident influencing how people work and helping them adopt new tools
- You’re pragmatic, curious and focused on outcomes rather than theory
- You’re happy being in the office regularly and value face to face collaboration
You don’t need…
- A computer science degree
- Insurance experience
- To be a traditional enterprise software engineer
- A long list of job titles, capability and mindset matter more
What’s on offer
- Salary £50,000 - £75,000 depending on experience
- Clear ownership and visible impact in a small team
- Autonomy to identify problems and fix them
- A collaborative, supportive working environment
- The chance to modernise how a traditional business operates
