Senior Python Engineer

We are seeking a remote Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Python and the Django web framework to join our client’s engineering team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in implementing key features outlined in an exciting product roadmap.

Our Client, a Logistics AI Technology startup, has a mission to simplify the complexity of the Logistics sector by applying the latest advances in Artificial Intelligence and machine learning.

They are committed to solving critical challenges in this ironically slow moving sector with their products focusing on improving efficiency, saving money, and providing exceptional customer satisfaction.

As a Senior Software Engineer in this small team you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of their cutting-edge SaaS product offering, focusing on optimising last-mile delivery and long-distance road transportation and everything in between.

Your primary responsibilities will revolve around implementing customer-centric features, translating identified needs into functional API endpoints using Python/Django.

Technical Challenges:

• Emphasise code readability and maintainability over unnecessary optimization.
• Occasionally contribute to core algorithms if interested, but not the main focus.

Development Methodology:

• Follow a Test-Driven Development (TDD) approach to ensure high code quality.
• Participate in weekly sprints, adhering to mutually agreed-upon deadlines for feature delivery.

Expectations for Code Quality and Testing:

• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests using Python's unit test framework.
• Use tests as guardrails to implement features quickly while maintaining code quality.

The client is based in California on the west coast of the United States but are looking for someone based within Europe* for this position. With working hours agreed based on the location of the successful candidate with several hours of “crossover” required each day. Salary offered for this position is €70,000 - €90,000

*Candidates in the US will be considered but the salary on offer will be a MAXIMUM of $100,000 pa working as a 1099 contractor.
