Foxley Talent's new client is a respected non-profit operating in the Open Source Ecosystem, with a particular focus on supporting developer communities and building tools that help contributors thrive. They are seeking an experienced Django Developer to join their growing engineering team.

The successful Django Developer will help build and maintain community facing platforms that support contributors, strengthen engagement, and provide modern infrastructure for users who rely on open source technology.

The organisation works closely with designers, community groups, and external partners to deliver platforms that reflect best practice across the wider Python and Django landscapes.

What You Will Do

  • Build and maintain web applications using Python and the Django framework
  • Design and implement backend logic, database models, and user profile systems for community and contributor focused functionality
  • Implement mailing list and newsletter systems that help users stay connected with community activity
  • Collaborate with an external partners
  • Build systems that recognise contributors through profile features, participation tracking, through GitHub and other 3rd party APIs
  • Ensure all code is maintainable, secure, and aligned with best Django practice

Skills and Experience

  • Strong proficiency in Python
  • A minimum of 5 years experience with Django including ORM, models, views, and templates
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
  • Frontend familiarity with HTML and CSS
  • Any experience with lower level languages is a bonus but not required
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote US based environment

As the new Django Developer on the team, you will contribute to the ongoing development of platforms that serve a large and active open source community. This work directly supports contributors, maintainers, and users across the community.

This is a meaningful position for a Django Developer who enjoys building technology that helps sustain and strengthen Open Source communities and who wants their work to have a positive impact across the wider Open Source landscape.
