
Foxley Talent are working with a London based startup in the SaaS space whose main product helps businesses manage their workflow with greater efficiency.
They are looking for a Lead Backend Developer to work with the Director of Engineering. This role will suit an experienced Python / Django Developer wanting to pursue a technical leadership direction.
Our client has been well received in their target market and has a healthy revenue pipeline as well over 100 committed long term customers. This is a crucial role for the business as they work to enhance systems to support the long term product development roadmap.
Key tasks ahead for the new Lead Developer will include:
- Provide technical leadership to the engineering team. This includes mentoring and guiding peers through architectural design.
- Help to refine and roll out the architectural vision for a scalable and secure product.
- Drive optimisation of software for scalability and performance.
- Set the bar for coding standards and ensure adherence to best practices through hands-on leadership.
- Develop scalable APIs using Django, AWS, and Terraform.
We are looking for candidates to be able to demonstrate the following experience:.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with Python, Django and the Django REST Framework.
- 5+ years of experience of designing and implementing REST APIs with a focus on scalability and performance.
- Expertise in designing and maintaining cloud-based architecture.
- Extensive knowledge of microservices architecture, containerisation, and modern backend engineering principles.
- Proficiency in implementing Domain-Driven Design.
- Experience with scaling platforms and optimising software for availability and performance.
- Worked with AWS cloud services along with expertise with tools like Terraform.
- Good working knowledge of Relational, Vector and NoSQL Databases
In addition, successful applicants will meet some if not all of these requirements:
- A Degree in Computer Science
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, both written and verbal.
- Proactive and a passion for solving real-world problems using technology.
- Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills
- A background with complex systems and production environments.
This is a full-time, remote role based in the UK, with occasional travel to London for face-to-face meetings. Travel costs will be reimbursed.
Salary ranges from £85,000 - £100,000
